Two people die in house fire─── 11:06 Tue, 08 Feb 2022
Two people died when a house in Thabong, Welkom, caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
Matjhabeng Fire Station Manager, Freddy Khuse, said they struggled with the blaze as the area was dark due to loadshedding and they did not have enough water supply from the truck.
The team had to connect to a fire hydrant on the same street.
OFM News received information that the fire truck broke down and could not operate. This is allegedly because the Matjhabeng municipality’s department that should fix it, is currently on strike.
Khuse says when the firefighters arrived on the scene, the roof of the house collapsed. He says while they were busy extinguishing the fire they discovered two bodies inside the house.
The police were informed and the K9 dog unit was called in for further investigation.
