#BreakingNews: Mangaung ANC suspends speaker─── LUCKY NKUYANE 14:11 Thu, 27 Jan 2022
The Mangaung ANC's Interim Regional Committee (IRC) has slapped the Metro's speaker, Stefani Lockman, with an immediate suspension.
Her suspension follows after she allegedly defied the order of the party not to allow a sitting which saw the former Acting City Manager removed from his office.
The IRC's coordinator, Sabelo Pitso, says all ANC councillors who participated in yesterday's meeting will be hurled in front of the party's working committee. Pitso also mentioned during a media briefing held at Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein, that the former member of the mayoral committee (MMC), Patrick Monyakoane, should be removed from the list of the Independent Electoral Committee (IEC). Monyaokane was part of a group of ANC members which removed More as the acting manager.
On Thursday, a message purported to be from the ANC, did the rounds on social media, and directed councillors to not attend the council sitting. The message read: “By the directive of the ANC, the cllrs of the ANC will not attend today's council meeting because council items are still being processed by the ANC. Following the message, about 15-16 councillors from the ruling party made it to the council sitting, which the public could not attend. This council then voted for the removal of More. More was supposed to act in his position until 31 January 2022, since the post of city manager was advertised by the metro.
