ANC IPC in NW criticised members─── LUCKY NKUYANE 12:27 Wed, 04 Aug 2021
The ANC Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) in the North West has come out scathing against councillors and politicians over issues besieging municipalities.
This, as the IPC is set to meet with councillors and Municipal Managers (MM) at the troubled Delareyville-based Tswaing Local Municipality on Wednesday, following scenes of violence where a municipal employee was attacked and bloodied by security guards two weeks ago. IPC ANC coordinator, Hlomani Chauke, tells OFM News that part of the problem in these municipalities across the province is with politicians who are comfortable with stealing public funds. Chauke says these politicians do not have the capacity to lead and address the issues and plight of residents.
He says in Tswaing the ANC has recalled troika members but they are refusing to step down because they are comfortable with the theft of a public purse.
“We are in here in Tswaing today to try and deal with the chaos that we see because its chaos and when you look at it, it’s not far - it’s from those who we have given the responsibility to lead. We have already taken a decision in Tswaing to recall some of the members but they are resisting and they are occupying positions knowing very well that the party that has deployed them has already recalled them but they are resisting because they are comfortable enjoying and stealing public money,” Chauke adds.
He says the resistance by ANC members in that municipality has nothing to do with them providing services to people but it’s about them being comfortable by intefering with the public money which is supposed to be used to deliver services to people. Chauke further adds the services have totally collapsed whilst they're busy fighting.
