#Covid19 vaccinations: Grootvlei inmates react after receiving their jabs | News Article

The Grootvlei offenders who received their vaccine jabs on Wednesday 21 July 2021, said that they were pleased to be part of the Free State's vaccination programme in Bloemfontein.

This comes after the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) launched the vaccination rollout campaign for Grootvlei officials and inmates.

The MEC for Health in the Free State, Montseng Tsiu, alongside the Department of Correctional Services' (DCS) provincial regional commissioner, Subashini Moodley, on Wednesday officially launched the Johnson & Johnson vaccine rollout at Grootvlei.

Lebohang Mitchell, who is one of the offenders, said that he was relieved to have received his Covid-19 jab, as he was concerned about the spread of the virus. Kamogelo Khambule, who is also one of the offenders at the Grootvlei correctional facility, encouraged more prisoners to partake in receiving their jabs to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, OFM News previously reported that officials, including those from the private security company, G4S, from the Mangaung Prison Centre, are also being vaccinated.

On Tuesday, the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Minister Ronald Lamola, launched the vaccination programme. The department has set up 90 approved vaccination sites at Correctional Centres across the country.
