New FS #ANC structure to outline plans

New FS #ANC structure to outline plans | News Article

The newly elected ANC Free State Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) is today expected to outline its plan of action.

This, as the structure which was elected last month is set to address the media.

According to the party's Tshidiso Nkgwedi, the outcome of the first IPC meeting held at the beginning of this month will be the focal point.

The structure, which saw the party's suspended Secretary-General Ace Magashule's biggest opponent and former Economic Development MEC, Mxolisi Dukwana, being appointed as the Convener and Free State Premier, Sisi Ntombela, as his deputy, is set to see the province to an elective conference.

This follows the disbandment of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) earlier this year after ANC vs ANC court battles, where a group of disgruntled party members argued that the conference that saw the structure being elected in Magashule's home town - Parys - was unconstitutional.

The new IPC is now inclusive of both ANC factions with well-known Magushule supporters in the top 5 as well as President Cyril Ramaphosa's supporters.

OFM News has reported that Ramaphosa, briefing the media last month over the suspension of Magashule, announced that they have taken note of infights in the Free State and the disbandment of the PEC. He said they have as a result tasked former President, Kgalema Motlanthe, to oversee the province and to resolve the political unrest in the party.

Ramaphosa highlighted that unity in the party was of high importance as the country nears October 27 municipal elections.

Paseka Nompondo, who was in the disbanded structure, has been elected in the interim structure as the Coordinator and Polediso Motsoeneng as Deputy Coordinator, while Saki Mokoena was appointed as Provincial Head of Elections.
