Miners named after death in Tau-Lekoa mine─── 06:46 Mon, 09 Dec 2019
The names of the miners who died at the Tau-Lekoa mine in Orkney in the North West have been released.
They are Xolani Meva, Lungile Nyawose, Katleho Nthibane and Karabo Mabuthile.
Five miners were trapped after a rockfall on Friday. One was rescued and is being treated for serious injuries in hospital.
The bodies of three were brought to the surface late yesterday. The body of the fourth miner has since also been found.
The National Union of Mineworkers wants an independent investigation into the incident and says action must be taken if mine safety regulations were breached.
