Bullying, drug testing workshop held at NW schools─── 07:35 Thu, 25 Jul 2019
The North West Department of Education will be hosting a two-day bully and drug testing workshop at the Ngwenya Hotel in Stilfontein near Klerksdorp in North West today and Friday.
The workshop will be attended by principals, district safety coordinators and safety coordinators from selected schools from the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati districts in the North West.
The key focus of the workshop will be how to recognise signs of bullying, tips for parents and teachers, drug testing procedures and corporal punishment alternatives. North West Department of Education spokesperson, Elias Malindi, said this workshop's primary objective is to empower teachers to be able to detect signs of bullying and drugs from learners.
The workshop is conducted following the school safety summit that was held earlier this year by the Department of Education. Provincial safety coordinator, Boitumelo Lekwape, says the department is implementing resolutions from the safety summit.
