Afasa conference tackles challenges faced by black farmers | News Article

The African Farmers’ Association of South Africa, Afasa, held an Agribusiness transformation conference last week in Gauteng.

OFM News’ Christal-Lize Muller spoke to Afasa’s president, Vuyo Mahlati, about the conference and challenges facing black commercial farmers…

This was Afasa’s president, Vuyo Mahlati. Afasa is one of four South African agricultural organisations who joined forces to develop a national strategy for the industry. The Agricultural Sector Unity Forum (Asuf), of which Afasa, Agri SA, the Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU), and the National African Farmers Union (NAFU) are part, committed themselves to work together in the hope of developing a joint agricultural development plan that will ensure a growing and inclusive agricultural sector which is aligned with the outcomes of the National Development Plan.
