Expressions Unbound guides the 2023 edition of the Sasol New Signatures competition and champions the unrestricted artistic narration of personal and collective stories as explained by Chairperson, Pfunzo Sidogi, joining Mid-Morning Magic’s Yolanda.
Throughout its long history, the Sasol New Signatures competition has launched the careers of countless artists who have gone on to build highly successful and significant local and international profiles. While winning the competition should be the ultimate goal for all entrants, being selected as one of the finalists is a significant milestone. If you wish to take your artistic career to the next level, we invite you to enter the 2023 edition of the competition.
This competition was first established 33 years ago by Sasol Limited and founded by the Association of Arts Pretoria in the 1960s. It is part of Sasol’s commitment to supporting South African arts and culture through various initiatives undertaken by its foundation. This annual competition is open to all South African artists over 18 years who have not yet held a solo exhibition. Artists who have held a solo exhibition for academic purposes (a Master’s degree exhibition for example) are allowed to enter. Artists can submit their artworks in any artistic medium – painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, video, and installations.
Enter the 2023 Sasol New Signatures Art Competition at one of several collection points across the country on Tuesday 6 June and Wednesday 7 June from 10h00 to 16h00. In Bloemfontein submission can be made in person at Oliewenhuis Art Museum, 16 Harry Smith Street, or phone 051-447-9609.
