The Melrose Gallery invites artists to submit their works for the 6th annual SculptX, looking for sculptural and installation works that can be shown both indoors and outdoors. Head Curator Ruzy Rusike joins Mid-Morning Magic’s Yolanda Maartens.
Sculptures and installations can be submitted for consideration by emerging, mid-career, and established sculptors from across South Africa.
Selected works for SculptX 2023 will be exhibited at the Melrose Gallery in Johannesburg from 6 September 2023 – 31 October 2023 as well as throughout the Melrose Arch urban precinct. It is aimed at showcasing the vast range of sculpture in Africa.
Participation in the exhibition will allow artists to have access to promote and sell their work through the gallery, associated events, online platforms, newsletters and other activations that SculptX runs. It will allow artists to gain exposure and connect with the greater art community in South Africa.
Applications for SculptX are open to artists, art collectives and project spaces.
