Pauline Gutter has a lot of new experiences, insights and inspiration to bring back to the Free State once she completes her residency with the Ampersand Foundation in New York in April.
Making the most of every opportunity, Pauline excitedly talks to Mid-Morning Magic's Yolanda Maartens about what she has seen and learned so far.
Pauline Gutter is a Free State-based South African painter and inter-media artist. She obtained her B.A. Degree in Fine Arts at the University of the Free State receiving cum laude for painting. She was also awarded Honours Colours in Arts and Culture from UFS.
In 2011, Gutter was awarded the Helgaard Steyn Award for painting and a year later, in 2012, she received the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans Award.
To add to her accolades, 2013 saw her winning the prestigious ABSA L`Atelier competition.
Currently, Pauline Gutter is completing her residency with the Ampersand Foundation in New York after having been invited to take part the 2023 programme. This opportunity has opened doors for her to meet with numerous artists, established art institutions and she has had the enormous opportunity of growing her art practice.
Our feature photo sees Pauline with the team from the Elizabeth Foundation of the Arts at the legendary Robert Blackburn Printmaking Studio where she has created her first US made stone lithograph.
