To name just a few, Idris Elba played Nelson Mandela in the movie Long Walk to Freedom, alongside Naomi Harris, who played the role of Winnie Mandela. In the movie Winnie, Jennifer Hudson also played Winnie Mandela, Morgan Freeman impersonated Mandela and Matt Damon played as Francois Pienaar in Invictus.
The Guardian has reported that Whitaker will play Desmond Tutu in the film called The Archbishop and the Antichrist, alongside fellow Hollywood star, Vince Vaughn, who will be taking on the role of the murderer, Piet Blomfield.
The film is based on the meetings the Archbishop had with the serial killer who, while serving a life sentence, seeks redemption for the crime he committed during the apartheid era.
The shooting of the film is set to start early next year.
