Bloemfontein - Investigations into the murder of Stellenbosch student Inge Lotz in the past few weeks have not revealed any new information.
Eight years after the then 22-year-old Lotz was found dead in her apartment, the crime remains unsolved, with her then-boyfriend Fred van der Vyver being tried and acquitted in 2007.
One of South Africa's top investigators, Piet Byleveld, was contracted by Lotz's parents to take over the investigations, but his mandate has since been finalised.
The Hawks have now taken over the case. Spokesperson Paul Ramoloko says investigations are ongoing and the outcome thereof will determine whether any individuals can be brought to book.
Lotz's father, Jan Lotz, told OFM News that he is thankful for Byleveld's assistance, and that they're not commenting any further.
