'Buthelezi ambulances helping FS Health to save money'─── REFILWE GAESWE 05:49 Wed, 30 Sep 2015
Bloemfontein - Free State MEC for Health, Benny Malakoane, says the controversial private ambulance service, Buthelezi Emergency Medical Services, is helping the department to save money.
Malakoane was speaking at the launch of 65 new ambulances, emergency medical service communication devices and two 24 hour helicopter medical services at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
Malakoane says the new ambulances are not related to Buthelezi EMS and most functioning ambulances will be replaced. He says it is because of Buthelezi’s lower rates that the department is able to save money and acquire new emergency transportation services.
Malakoane says the department is happy with Buthelezi EMS, which still has a year contract with the department.
