Bloemfontein - Traffic in Bloemfontein was backed-up so badly this morning that even traffic on the N1 was delayed.
Traffic SA's Rob Byrne says Haldon road and the N8 highway are also experiencing congestion due to the opening of Makro.
Meanwhile, economist John Loos, has welcomed the opening of the retail store.
Residents of Bloemfontein and surrounds can now enjoy around 55 000 brands under one roof.
Loos warns, however, that such developments need careful planning to avoid workers finding themselves unemployed when market conditions take a turn for the worst.
Makro created 380 jobs once-off for today’s grand opening with over 300 more employed either permanent or on contract.
