Welkom Mall up in smoke, not flames─── SABRINA SABRINA 12:53 Fri, 05 Dec 2014
Welkom - Usually where there’s smoke there’s fire, but apparently this was not the case at Welkom’s Goldfields Mall earlier today.
Lungile Khutze from the Matjhabeng Fire Brigade says the smoke was caused during testing of a standby generator at the mall that had been flooded.
He says the mall was evacuated for about 30 minutes as a precautionary measure but insists there was no fire.
He says the fire brigade has now given the all clear and the mall can continue to operate as normal.

OFM News did try contacting centre management earlier but the line has been engaged.
