NPA to outline North West investigations─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:16 Mon, 15 Mar 2021
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will soon brief the Ad Hoc Committee on cases emanating from the Section 100 intervention in the North West.
This, as the Committee has embarked on a week-long visit to the province to assess the state of service delivery, the progress made since the province has been placed under administration and engage the provincial government. OFM News earlier reported that the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has made two criminal referrals to the NPA over irregular tender procedures at the financially troubled Moretele Local Municipality. The SIU confirmed it has finalised an investigation into the procurement of ICT goods and services by the municipality and identified cash and assets to the value of R154 million that could be recovered, and referred the case to the NPA.
The delegate from Parliament, led by Chair, China Dodovu, last week called for investigations to be fast-tracked and for those implicated in fraud and corruption cases to be brought to book.
They stated that a lack of accountability and lack of service delivery in the province remains a great cause of concern.
The briefing before the committee by the NPA will be on a virtual platform this afternoon from 17:00.
