Drake announces release date for new album ‘Scorpion’ | News Article

Drake has announced that his new album will be called ‘Scorpion’ and will be released in a couple of months’ time.

The Toronto rapper has long been teasing a new album, recently stating that his next LP will once again be inspired by his hometown.

Following a pair of number one singles just months apart (‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Nice For What’), Drake has now announced that something by the name of ‘Scorpion’ will arrive in June.

Fans speculated that it could be the name of Drake’s new LP, with Rolling Stone confirming that ‘Scorpion’ is indeed the name of Drake’s next album.

Drake made the announcement in a pair of Instagram posts, one featuring a varsity jacket featuring all the relevant details and another showing a diamond-encrusted scorpion pendant. See below.

Drake’s last studio album came in the form of ‘Views’ in 2016. He followed it with his ‘More Life’ playlist project in March 2017 and ‘Scary Hours’ EP in January of this year.

Earlier today it was announced that Drake has broken a UK chart record previously held by The Beatles.

The star topped the UK Singles Chart this week with ‘Nice For What’, making it the second time he’s done so this year after ‘God’s Plan’.

According to a press release, the quick one-two of chart-toppers means that Drake has broken a chart record for the shortest time between UK number one debuts.

The record was previously held by The Beatles when they followed ‘Get Back’ with ‘The Ballad of John and Yoko’, the group’s final UK number one, in 1969.
