The Irish singer Dolores O’Riordan’s confirmed the news, saying that she was in London for a recording session.


Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of The Cranberries, has died. She was aged 46.

The Irishsinger-songwriter, originally from Limerick, helped the band find internationalsuccess in the '90s with singles including Linger and Zombie, scoring nine UKTop 40 singles. 

The causeof death has not been revealed publicly, but a statement from her publicistsaid: "The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in Londonfor a short recording session. No further details are available at this time.

"Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time." Dolores leaves behind three children. 

Away fromThe Cranberries, Dolores released two solo albums in 2007 and 2009, and joinedthe alt-rock group D.A.R.K in 2014. She also served as a judge on The Voice ofIreland for one season in 2013.

The Cranberries released a new album, called Something Else, in April last year.The record was a collection of their best known songs re-worked acoustically.
