“He’s not a guy who is 16 years old and he’s not an old player either, but if he has the attitude that he had, the only thing I can do is get him out of the group, because this is not what I want from players.”

The Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, has laid down the law in his camp ahead of Friday’s home leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo in Gqeberha.

The veteran Belgian tactician has dropped the Stellenbosch FC midfielder, Jayden Adams, for ill-discipline. Adams failed to report for duty at the national camp following the MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Stellies in Durban on Saturday.

The Pirates and Stellenbosch players linked up with the squad on Sunday, however, Adams did not report and this forced the coach’s hand as he is trying his level best to install a professional culture within the national set-up.

Broos said it is now up to Adams to reflect and make a decision about his future, but we will not allow for a toxic environment in the camp.

“If you ask something about a player, it’s that they are professionals, so if I feel a guy doesn’t have that attitude, then for me it’s done,” said Broos.

“He’s not a guy who is 16 years old and he’s not an old player either, but if he has the attitude that he had, the only thing I can do is get him out of the group, because this is not what I want from players.

“It’s up to Jayden now to think about what he is going to do with his future.”

Broos added that some players were injured in the MTN8 final as well. Bathusi Aubaas replaced the injured Thalente Mbath, Sinoxolo Kwayiba of Chippa United has replaced Adams.

Friday night’s all-important qualifier at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium kicks off at 19:00.
