We want to make history - Mabena─── MORGAN PIEK 15:52 Wed, 09 Dec 2020
Bloemfontein Celtic have their sights firmly set on a first piece of silverware in eight years when they face Orlando Pirates on Saturday in the MTN8 Final in Durban.
In December 2012 Phunya Sele Sele beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 at the very same Moses Mabidha Stadium to win the Telkom Knockout Cup for their last title.
As recently as in September, the Brazilians beat Celtic 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup finally at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
The Celtic captain and former Buccaneers forward, Ndumiso Mabena, told OFM Sport that they want to make history.
“We've made history, it's this first time that we are in this final.
“As the players in the team, we want to make history. We want to win this trophy for the first time in green-and-white colours.
“It hasn't been a bad year for us, especially in the current circumstances with the Covid-19.
“Our preparations have gone well and we continue to prepare well.
“We look forward to the remaining days that we have to prepare.
“There is still Thursday and Friday before we jet out so that we can be there for the big one on Saturday, and everything is still on course.”
Saturday’s final in Durban gets underway at 18:00.
