Knights need to fight hard─── MORGAN PIEK 08:40 Tue, 18 Mar 2025

The Knights will be going all out for a win this week when they take on the Warriors in Gqeberha in the CSA 4-Day Series.
The Knights are third on the log, but both they and the Warriors have played one more match than the other teams.
In the recently concluded One-Day Cup, the Knights showed great intent and were, at one stage, serious contenders to reach — and even host — the play-off. However, back-to-back defeats against the Dolphins and Titans in Bloemfontein in the final two rounds brought an end to their campaign.

With the threat of relegation looming over them, a win would put the Knights in a strong position. However, the Warriors are also fighting for survival. After losing their One-Day Cup play-off spot due to a breach of CSA’s transformation rules, they will be out to prove a point in their remaining games.
The onus is, however, on the players to finish their season strong with good and solid performances all-round. Regelation back to Division 2 for the Knights after just one season back in the top-flight will have dire consequences for the Free State, and they team has no choice but to fight for their survival.
Knights assistant coach Lotli Sesele told OFM Sport that their full focus is on this week’s game in the Friendly City, as they aim to give themselves a shot at reaching the final. “We’re super excited to be back in red-ball cricket, and we’re sitting nicely in third.”
“So, we’re looking forward to it, and hopefully, we do really well. If we can get two wins, we could find ourselves in the play-offs. I think, based on the effort the guys have put in, they deserve it, and it would be fantastic. But this upcoming game is a massive one for both teams.”
Play at St George’s Park is set to start at 10:00 on Thursday morning (19/3).
