Invaluable Jones rejoins Springbok coaching team─── MORGAN PIEK 13:21 Thu, 27 Feb 2025

The back-to-back Rugby World Champions, the Springboks, have received a major boost ahead of the international season, which will kick off later this year.
The Boks have welcomed back Felix Jones to their coaching staff, adding even more strength to an already solid technical team. The coaching lineup, led by head coach Rassie Erasmus, includes Tony Brown, Jerry Flannery, Daan Human, Mzwandile Stick, Deon Davids, and Duane Vermeulen as assistants.
Jones stepped down as a Springbok assistant coach following the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France to be closer to his family in the United Kingdom. He briefly served as an assistant coach for England before returning to South Africa.
A two-time Rugby World Cup winner, Jones was part of the Springboks’ technical team in both Japan (2019) and France (2023).

Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus expressed his delight at having Jones back on board.
“We are delighted to welcome Felix back into the Springbok team and excited to see him pick up where he left off in 2023,” said Erasmus.
“He was a vital part of the coaching team from 2019 to 2023, and his experience, professionalism, and excellent work ethic make him a great addition to the outstanding coaching setup we’ve built from the start of 2024.
“Felix has worked closely with most of our coaches in the past, and I have no doubt he will integrate well with Jerry (Flannery) and Tony (Brown), who joined us last season.

“Having spent time coaching in England, his experience of working in the UK and analysing opposition teams in the Six Nations and other international tournaments will be invaluable. This knowledge will help us adapt and improve as we prepare for a tough international season ahead.
“As a team, we know we must keep evolving if we want to remain among the best in the world and give ourselves the best possible chance of defending our World Cup title in Australia in 2027. Felix, along with the rest of our coaching and support staff, will play a key role in achieving this.”
The Springboks will begin preparations for the upcoming season in March, with the first alignment camp set to take place in Cape Town from 10 to 12 March.
