“Cammy is a guy who when you see him doing something well, you just want to join in and put in the extra effort. He’s massive for the team and the way he plays inspires the whole team to do that extra bit and give that extra bit of effort.”
The Bulls are inspired by the performance of the loose-forward Cameron Hanekom ahead of Saturday’s sold-out United Rugby Championship final against the Glasgow Warriors in Pretoria.
During the 25-20 semi-final win against Leinster last week, the 22-year-old Hanekom was simply brilliant and he neutralised several seasoned Irish internationals.
There have been calls for the youngster to don the green-and-gold following a few good outings and it will be no surprise if he is indeed on Rassie Erasmus' radar.
The Rugby World Cup winner and Bulls flanker, Marco ‘Eskom’ van Staden, told OFM Sport that the youngster certainly knows how to get the boys going.
“He inspires a lot,” said the seasoned Springbok flanker.
“Cammy is a guy who when you see him doing something well next to you, you just want to join in and put in the extra effort.
“He’s massive for the team and the way he plays inspires the whole team to do that extra bit and give that extra bit of effort.
“He definitely inspires that whole team to give their best.
Van Staden added that being able to win the URC won’t just mean a lot to the players, but it will be special for everyone involved.
“Winning will mean a lot for us, and it’s not just for the players - there’s so many people involved,” Van Staden added.
“It’s from the guys not playing to the people working behind the scenes like the coaches, those working at the stadium, and the fans coming out every weekend.
“It will mean a lot to them, and that’s why we have a bigger purpose than just lifting a trophy - we’re playing for a lot more people than just the 23 guys.
Van Staden added that it will be important to not make the occasion bigger than it is, and just approach it like every other game in their campaign.
“But my mindset is also about not making the game bigger than it is. It is a big occasion and will be full Loftus, having all our fans for a home final.”
Saturday’s Grand Finale at the sold-out Loftus Versfeld kicks off at 18:00.
