#MangaungShutdown called off, police launch postponed─── 05:36 Thu, 30 Sep 2021
A protest action that was planned for Thursday, to bring the Mangaung Metro to a standstill, has been called off at the eleventh hour.
The Bloemfontein-based pressure group, Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF), made a call to action due to the new Metro Police that was to be launched in the city on Thursday.
However, late Wednesday night the MSDF said they had met with the premier, Sisi Ntombela and ANC leaders, led by Mxolisi Dukwana - allegedly resulting in the postponement of the launch of the Metro Police that was to take place at the Free State Stadium.
The Convener of MSDF, Mpho Mojanga, reached out to residents last night, explaining the protest will not be taking place. He urged residents to treat it as a normal working day, and ensure transport and other services continue uninterrupted.
