Competition Commission SA frowns upon ‘toothless dog’ labelling─── 15:27 Wed, 11 Jul 2018
The Competition Commission of South Africa vows to prosecute any anti-competitive behaviour.
This follows the prosecution of two companies manufacturing and supplying flat wire.
Asked if he was concerned about the labelling of the commission as a toothless dog, spokesperson for the commission, Sipho Ngwema, told OFM News that he doubts the label as everybody has been feeling their presence in terms of the anti-competitive conduct.
Ngwema further told OFM News that they have heavily fined a lot of companies due to misconduct.
“I think the entire market is feeling us and everybody is now aware of the fact that [the commission] is an institution, that we are the regulator monitoring the market and we are, on a daily basis, picking up in terms of anti-competitive conduct,” says Ngwema.
