Wage talks between Eskom and labour unions to resume next week─── 12:00 Fri, 22 Jun 2018
Wage talks between Eskom and labour unions will resume next week Wednesday, as the power utility needs more time to consider the latest offer by the unions.
According to media reports, Metalworkers’ union Numsa, mineworkers’ union NUM and Solidarity met with Eskom yesterday after presenting a nine per cent counter proposal.
Earlier this week the unions rejected a four-point-seven per cent wage hike offer. Parliament’s Public Enterprises Committee has called on Eskom and unions to compromise on a wage deal that will ensure the utility’s long-term sustainability.
