Bloemfontein - Free State motorists traveling from Bloemfontein to Brandfort and on to Welkom via the R30 will most likely have to start paying toll fees at the brand new Brandfort Plaza from November this year. Sanral's Priya Pillay says the Brandfort plaza is complete but the opening date is dependent on the road works progress. According to Pillay, the road works along the route were supposed to be completed sooner but have been delayed due to weather problems. The plaza will be operated by Intertoll. Sanral will inform the public of the tariffs payable once these have been gazetted. The R30/R34 and sections making up the R730 between Welkom and Kroonstad was declared as a toll road in April 2006. It has since officially been named the ZR Mahabane Toll Road. Upgrade work along the entire 193km section has been undertaken in four separate road upgrade contracts at a total cost of about R933-million.
