Thabong bags FS Police Station of the Year Award─── PULANE CHOANE 12:37 Sat, 20 Oct 2018
The Thabong Police Station in Welkom, Free State won the Station/Unit of the Year during last night’s provincial South African Police Excellence Awards.
This award was a special category award and recognises the station that has distinguished itself as the one taking the most steps forward in terms of service levels during the last year.
Among the reasons why this station won the award was the fact that its own members on a rotational basis, offer to clean the premises and have never claimed remuneration for doing so.
The award was accepted by the Station’s Commander, Cynthia Molale and the ceremony was held last night at the Kopano Nokeng Lodge in Bloemfontein.
In 2014 and 2015, the station also made news for winning the National Excellence Award for two consecutive years and was voted the Best Station in the country by a panel of judges. Last year, it was the Park Road Police Station in Bloemfontein that won this award.
Other awards given at the ceremony were in 21 different categories, among which operational, sport, as well as the prestigious Provincial Commissioner, MEC, Premier and Laurette of the Year Awards featured.
