Newly sworn member of the Free State Legislature Montsheng Tsiu has been announced as the MEC of Health in the province.
Free State Premier Sisi announced her cabinet reshuffle this afternoon in Bloemfontein. Tsiu takes over from Butana Komphela who is now the MEC of Social Development.
Oupa Khoabane replaces Ntombela in her previous position of MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) which Ntombela said is now a stand alone portfolio.
Tsiu, a former provincial chairperson of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) in the province was sworn in after former provincial secretary of the ANC in the Free State, William Bulwane resigned shortly after being sworn in last month – becoming the legislature member with the shortest serving time since 1994.
Ntombela welcomed Tsiu saying she brings her years of experience in public health care to the portfolio.
Dimakatso ‘Maki’ Mahasa is now the MEC Economic Development, Tourism, Environmental Affairs & Small Business replacing Benny Malakoane who takes over from Khoabane as MEC of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Ntombela further added that they have decided to reassign the responsibilities of Human Settlements to the MEC of Public Works and Infrastructure.
