Two children die in Rustenburg crash─── NOMAQHAWE MTEBELE 13:21 Tue, 13 Mar 2018
Two children were killed and eleven other people were injured when a light motor vehicle and taxi collided in Rustenburg, North West, today.
Emergency services found the taxi lying on its side when they arrived at the scene at the Snel and Scott Road intersection in Rustenburg North. The other vehicle involved had crashed into a concrete fence a few metres away. The children were estimated to be between the ages of six and eight. They were discovered near the taxi before they were declared dead on the scene. It is believed that the minors and several others were on their way to school when the accident occurred. According to ER24’s Russel Meiring, the cause of the accident is not yet known…
“Paramedics assessed the children and found that they had already succumbed to their multiple injuries,” stated Meiring. Several people sustained moderate injuries before they were transported to provincial hospitals according to Meiring. Police were at the scene for further investigation.
