#BreakingNews: Police at Grootvlei Prison after explosive device was found─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 10:00 Mon, 05 Mar 2018
Members of the police's bomb squad and dog unit in Bloemfontein have been deployed to the employees’ living quarters at the Grootvlei Prison.
This comes after a suspected explosive device was seized early this morning. Police spokesperson, Loraine Earle, says it was found at the living quarters of the prison wardens and not at the prison itself.
She says there was not a bomb threat. Police members are currently on the scene and more details will follow.
The Department of Correctional Services' spokesperson in the Free State and Northern Cape, Puleng Mokhoane, cannot be reached for comment.
