Nketoana Municipality faces possible electricity cuts

Nketoana Municipality faces possible electricity cuts | News Article

Nketoana Local Municipality will possibly experience electricity outages starting 13 March.

This will take place unless an agreement is reached between the municipality and Eskom. Nketoana will be the third of three Free State municipalities that face power cuts due to dishonouring payment agreements. Daily interruptions are taking place in Tokologo Local Municipality and Masilonyana Local Municipality with morning and afternoon intervals.

The municipalities face 14-hour interruptions from 06:00 to 20:00 if agreements are not reached by the third week. A 14-day notice was released before electricity interruptions began in Nketoana. According to Eskom’s Stefanie Jansen van Rensburg, a fault that caused a longer interruption near Boshof today has been fixed.

Eskom received complaints from residents in Seretse, near Boshof, about lengthier power interruptions this morning which was in fact caused by a regular fault, said Jansen van Rensburg. “What is important is that all customers treat electrical connections as live and dangerous at all times as they can be switched on without notice,” she warned.
