Bloemfontein - Condolences are pouring in for well-known Bloemfontein sports journalist Joe Venter.
Venter, who was known for his great stories in all sporting codes, passed away after a long illness. He spent the past few months in hospital. Freelance sport journalist, Georg van Eck, says Venter was highly respected and a great mentor.
Venter was known throughout the world for his extensive work in various sporting codes and has been covering sports news in the city since the early 1980’s.
Van Eck says he has learnt a lot from him and he was a wonderful colleague.
The veteran journalist would have been 84 years old tomorrow (1 Oct). He is survived by his wife and children.
