Strike at Monapo over - FS Heath─── 17:52 Thu, 15 Sep 2016
Bloemfontein- The strike at the Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Hospital in QwaQwa has been called off.
This, according to Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi. He says an understanding was reached two days ago between themselves and Nehawu. Mvambi says essential services workers in the health profession are not supposed to ever go on strike.
Patients have reportedly recently been redirected to Elizabeth Ross Hospital, some 10kms away.
Meanwhile the Treatment Action Campaign's Anele Yawa earlier today said they are still not satisfied with response from FS Health regarding their concerns and demands. He says they are mobilizing the masses in Welkom, QwaQwa and other districts in the Free State to prepare for mass action next week. They are unhappy with the physical state of hospitals, working conditions, overtime payment, as well as outsourcing. He adds that TAC will be sending a letter to the Presidency’s office today about this matter.
Nehawu's Jabu Makhubo could not be reached for comment.
