Potchefstroom - Judgment in the Kobus Groenewald murder trial will be delivered tomorrow in the Potchefstroom Circuit Court.
Groenewald (85) stands accused of murdering his wife Dienkie in their Stilfontein home on May 9 two years ago.
On Monday Groenewald pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
OFM’s Dane Beisheim reports that Groenewald also testified that on the day in question he was trying to protect Dienkie from what he thought was an attacker in their darkened hallway.
This contradicts Groenewald’s earlier statement that his wife had fallen in the bathtub. Investigating Officer, Vanessa Erasmus, also testified that Dienkie Groenewald's injuries, including several deep wounds to her head, were not reconcilable with that of someone who had fallen in a bathtub.
Delivery of the verdict is expected to commence at 09:00 tomorrow.
