Fraudster Lianné Greyling jailed for 7 years─── 11:34 Mon, 03 Aug 2015
Bloemfontein - Bloemfontein businesswoman and fraudster, Lianné Greyling, will spend the next seven years in jail.
Magistrate Marina Voges today handed Greyling a seven year sentence in the Bloemfontein Regional court on 24 charges of theft and fraud of approximately R5.5 million.
OFM News' Mark Steenbok reports that Judge Voges told the court that she had no choice but to send Greyling to jail, despite her having shown remorse. Greyling pleaded guilty to the charges against her.
Voges further told the court today she hoped that Greyling was truly sorry for her offenses and that she wanted to change. She also mentioned that so-called white collar crimes are on the increase and she hoped Greyling’s sentence would send out a loud and clear message that fraud does not pay.
As Greyling was led away she told OFM News that although she was not happy, she did feel the sentence was fair.
A sobbing Greyling concluded by saying she would survive this trying time by the grace of God.
