Bloemfontein - Further issues have surfaced at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein, after an inspection revealed that it is at times unable to provide hot water for patients due to old infrastructure that needs repairing.
This was discovered during the Free State oversight visit by the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).
According to NCOP’s provincial leader Manana Tlake, the hospital plans to make use of a solar system to solve the problem.
NCOP national delegates together with provincial legislature members, representatives from the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and Auditor General on Wednesday conducted an oversight visit at Elizabeth Ross Hospital, Tina Moloi Clinic and Phuthaditjhaba Clinic at QwaQwa, which forms part of the Maluti-a-Phofung municipality.
Tlake says Elizabeth Ross's infrastructure has improved but faces challenges regarding vacant senior posts.
She says this could become a problem when the Auditor General monitors the hospital as it will never obtain a clean audit outcome.
Tlake said she was impressed with Tina Moloi Clinic.
