Brandfort - The Masilonyana municipality says avoiding a possible bloodbath was the reason behind the snubbing of DA provincial leader, Patricia Kopane, yesterday.
Kopane was scheduled to hand over a memorandum to the municipality to address water problems in the town of Brandfort, but instead found the municipal offices closed.
Last week, the Human Rights Commission found the municipality guilty of violating residents’ basic human rights through its failure to provide adequate water.
Municipal spokesperson, Zongezile Npjwadule says both the DA and local ANC branches were denied permission to march to the Masilonyana municipality.
Npjwadule confirmed that his municipality received the HRC report and will comment in due course.
