Veteran photojournalist, Sam Nzima, will be laid to rest at Lillydale, Bushbuckridge, in Mpumalanga on Saturday.

Nzima died earlier this month at the age of 83.  He’s best known for the iconic picture of Hector Pieterson he took during the Soweto uprising in June 1976.

The veteran Photojournalist Sam Nzima has been accorded a provincial special official funeral by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Among those who are expected to attend the funeral service is the Deputy President, David Mabuza, and Hector Peterson’s sister, Antoinette Sithole, who is also in the iconic picture of June 1976. Nzima’s contributions to the liberation of South Africa is not only recognised in the country but also abroad.
