Kimberley - The head of the Northern Cape department of health and former Kimberley Hospital CEO, Deon Madyo, who was also implicated in the controversial and much publicised corruption case of former Finance MEC, John Block, has died.
Provincial Health MEC, Lebogang Motlhaping, extended his condolences to the Madyo family today. He also appealed to the media to respect the family’s wishes of enabling them space to mourn the loss of their loved one.
Funeral details are not yet available and the department said it will issue a statement in this regard in due course after consulting with the family.
Madyo is the second person implicated in this case that has died. Accused Yolanda Botha, who was an ANC provincial treasurer and MP, was buried in January.
Northern Cape Premier, Sylvia Lucas, announced earlier today that Elizabeth Botes has been appointment as the new head of the department of health.
