Bloemfontein's Gabbi Venter has claimed her first major title as professional golfer by winning the Standard Bank Ladies Open in Cape Town.
Bloemfontein's Gabbi Venter has claimed he first major title as professional golfer by winning the Standard Bank Ladies Open in Cape Town.
Venter carded a final round of four-under-par 70 at the Royal Cape Golf Club in the Mother City to finish her tournament on 9-under-par for a one-stroke victory.
Scotland's Kylie Henry recorded bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes to blow her one-stroke lead. Henry finished in a tie for second along with Emie Peronnin of France.
This was Venter's third tournament of the season on the Sunshine Ladies Tour and it was her third top-five finish.
At the Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am at Fancourt in George she finished in fifth, while a week later she finished as the runner-up at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge at the Lost City Course at Sun City.
Venter is the daughter of the former Free State cricket allrounder, Kosie Venter. He also some valuable support as her caddy.
