It looks like there are similarities between the two records, but there is a bit of a difference between them.  What sets them apart is that the first one relates to any 24-hour period, whereas the second explicitly is for the album's debut day.

The records are as follows:

  • Most streamed album on Spotify in 24 hours (184.6 million streams)
  • Most day-one streams of an album on Spotify (184.6 million streams)
  • Most streamed act on Spotify in 24 hours (228 million streams)

Drake, a Canadian rapper, was the previous record holder, although he still holds the male versions of each record.  His 2021 album, “Certified Lover Boy”, attained 153.4 million streams within the first 24 hours.

Drake's previous record had already been broken by “Midnights” before the clock struck midnight on October 22. Before the day ended, it received almost 30 million more streams. The sum of Taylor Swift's streams includes the 161.5 million streams of the original 13-track album, as well as the additional seven tracks from the "3 am Edition" (23.1 million).

The 20 songs on “Midnights” received a significant number of Spotify streams on their first day.

Taylor Swift has a history of breaking records. When “Red” (Taylor's Version) was released less than a year ago, she broke four Guinness World Records.

On 27 November 2021, 26 tracks from the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, shattering three concurrent but distinct records:

  • Most simultaneous new entries in the Hot 100
  • Most simultaneous new entries in the Hot 100 by a solo act
  • Most simultaneous new entries in the Hot 100 by a female

Additionally, "All Too Well” (10 Minute Version), another song by the artist, broke the record for the longest song to ever top the Billboard Hot 100.

The power ballad, which was longer than Don McLean's “American Pie”, which ruled the charts for four weeks in 1972 (8 minutes 37 seconds), was 10 minutes and 13 seconds long.

Swift won Album of the Year at the Grammys in March 2021 for her unexpected 2020 album “Folklore”, setting a record for the most Album of the Year wins at the Grammys (female).

Over 35 Guinness World Records have been broken by Taylor Swift so far in her career, and we have no doubt that she will break many more in the years to come.
