Knights make first new signing for 2025/26 season─── MORGAN PIEK 13:26 Wed, 23 Apr 2025

The Knights have made their first major signing ahead of the 2025/26 domestic cricket season, successfully luring the experienced all-rounder Ruan Haasbroek to Bloemfontein from the Northern Cape Heat.
Haasbroek was a key figure for the Heat during the 2024/25 campaign, where they came agonisingly close to securing promotion to Division 1, narrowly losing out to the Tuskers.
The 28-year-old previously captained the Limpopo Impalas and has also represented the North West Dragons and the Lions during his career. In 2023/24, Haasbroek led the Impalas to the Division 2 T20 Cup title. In the semi-finals, Haasbroek scored 63 not out off 36 balls and returned figures of 0/23 in 3 overs. The Impalas beat the Knights by 20 runs at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.

Known for his versatility, Haasbroek is capable of turning a game on its head, whether it’s through his off-spin bowling or with the bat. He also has the skills to stand in as wicketkeeper if needed, adding further depth to any side.
Speaking to OFM Sport, Haasbroek expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Knights. “I’m extremely excited to join and represent such a prestigious union. They’ve always operated professionally, and when you combine that with a winning culture, it creates an environment where you can thrive and grow.
“I’ve always felt confident playing in Bloem because of previous performances, so I’m hoping to carry that form into the season and help the team win matches and silverware.

“I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Bloem faithful, and I hope we can make them proud as we fight our way back to the top.”
Meanwhile, the Knights have confirmed their first departure of the off-season, with Dian Forrester set to move to the North West Dragons. Forrester spent his entire professional career at the Knights and was instrumental in the team gaining promotion to Division 1 for the 2024/25 domestic series.
In his two seasons in Bloemfontein, he was named as the team’s Most Valuable Player of the Year twice.
