North West Dragons sign Knights star Forrester─── MORGAN PIEK 18:38 Tue, 22 Apr 2025

The North West Dragons have made yet another major signing ahead of the 2025/26 domestic cricket season, moving swiftly to secure the services of one of the most sought-after players in the country.
This time, the Dragons have snapped up talented all-rounder Dian Forrester from the Knights.
Just two weeks ago, Forrester was named the Knights’ Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season, following consistently strong performances across all three formats. Over the past two seasons, his standout displays have drawn interest from several franchises, including the Dolphins, Tuskers, and Western Province.
Forrester becomes the first confirmed departure from the Knights, who are expected to be relegated to Division 2 again for the upcoming season. While the 24-year-old began his professional career in Bloemfontein, relegation would likely make it difficult for the Knights to hold onto players of his calibre.
Speaking to OFM Sport, Forrester said he’s eager to embrace this next chapter of his cricket journey.
“I’m very, very excited to be joining the North West Dragons. It’s a team that’s done really well over the past two to three seasons – they’ve been competing for trophies and are just a really strong outfit,” he said.
‘Move to Potchefstroom will also bring him closer to family’
“I’m looking forward to working with the coaching staff and the players, and I can’t wait for pre-season to get going.”
Forrester, who studied and played for Tuks (University of Pretoria), added that the move to Potchefstroom will also bring him closer to family.
“Everything’s quite close to home for me now. My parents are still in Pretoria, so being in Potch means I’ll be able to visit them a lot more often.”

He also highlighted the quality of the facilities at JB Marks Oval, which he believes suit his game perfectly as an all-rounder. “It’s a great ground to play on – we saw that during the One-Day Cup. The pitches are good and always offer something for the bowlers too,” Forrester added.
“There are a lot of players in the Dragons squad I’ve looked up to, so I’m excited to learn from them. I can’t wait for the season to get underway. I’m really joining a special team.”
In a related move, the Dragons are expected to lose the Jansen twins, Marco and Duan, who are set to join the Titans. Both the left-arm seamers have previously played for the Knights. Another former Knight, Alfred Mothoa, is also set to resume his career in Potchefstroom.
