The North West Dragons suffered their first defeat of the CSA T20 Challenge with a 21-run loss to the Warriors in Gqeberha on Saturday.

The Warriors had a bat first at St George’s Park and posted a massive total of 221/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Jiveshan Pillay led the charge with the bat for the Warriors with 61 runs off 33 balls, while Sinethemba Qeshile scored 53 and the Proteas allrounder Patrick Kruger added 34 to the total.

Migael Pretorius was the Dragons best bowler on the day with 2/32 in his four overs, while Kerwin Mungroo took 2/54.

A brilliant 111 not out off 60 balls by Janneman Malan was in vain as the Dragons were restricted to an equally impressive 200/3 in their 20 overs. Lesiba Ngoepe in turn added 41 runs to the score.

Duanne Olivier, Alfred Mothoa, and JP Kings each managed to take a wicket for the Warriors in what was their third win of the campaign to move up to third on the table.

Meanwhile, over at Boland Park in Paarl, the Lions beat Boland by 6 wickets. This win moved the defending champions to first on the log and the Dragons dropped down to second.

On Sunday at 14:00, the Titans will host the Knights at SuperSport Park in Centurion, while the bottom-of-the-log Dolphins will face the Western Province at Kingsmead in Durban.
