The young batter, Nathan Roux, has been called up to the Itec Knights, just two years after nearly losing his life.
The in-form player’s heart stopped beating in 2019 and his life was saved thanks to the actions of his quick-thinking roommates, who rushed him to hospital.
The 23-year-old number three batter was called up to the Knights as cover for Raynard van Tonder who in turn will be playing for South Africa A against India A from next week.
Roux was however not selected for the starting XI for the 4-Day match against the Dolphins which started at Kingsmead in Durban on Thursday morning.
The player is also in the squad for next week’s game against the Lions at the Wanderers.
Earlier in the week that Knights confirmed that the KZN Tuskers all-rounder, Keith Dudgeon, will join them on loan for the match against the Lions as cover for Migael Pretorius.
Pretorius has also been called up to the SA A side for the three-match series against India A in Bloemfontein
