Van Biljon undergoes surgery─── MORGAN PIEK 12:26 Wed, 06 May 2020
The VKB Knights captain and Proteas batsman, Pite van Biljon, underwent surgery to his troublesome shoulder on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old, who made his national debut during the T20 International series against Australia earlier this year, injured his right shoulder during the rained out Momentum One-Day Cup against the Highveld Lions.
Due to the injury he sustained, he was unable to play in the Knights last match of the round-robins, in which they beat the Titans at SuperSport Park to book a semi-final spot. They were set to face the Dolphins at Kingsmead in Durban in the last four, but this was called off due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Van Biljon was set to undergo the procedure at the end of March, however, it was postponed because of the Coronavirus.
While Van Biljon was among the leading run-scorers during the 2019/20 Domestic Four-Day series, it was a season in which he was plagued with injuries.
Due to a stomach bug, he was unable to play in the South African A game against England in Benoni. A short while later he received his first call-up to the Proteas for the T20 International series against the English, but was unable to play after tearing the webbing between his index and middle finger.
