“He was identified as missing during the morning head count. The affected ward is a high-risk area with advanced security.”

The Department of Health in the Northern Cape urges community members to assist with finding a missing patient. 

The patient, Petrus de Bruin (54), went missing from the Kimberley Mental Health Hospital on Sunday morning (30/6) at around 03:40. 

“He was identified as missing during the morning head count. The affected ward is a high-risk area with advanced security,” said spokesperson Lulu Mxekezo.

De Bruin is said to have been wearing a green jersey and a navy blue hospital gown.

Anyone who might have seen this patient or have any information can call the hospital’s CEO on 071-323-6781, the social worker on 078-290-0322, or the operational manager on 082-658-0467 as soon as possible.

“The Northern Cape Department of Health is investigating the incident and will implement appropriate action after finalising the investigation.”
