Another dry spell could hit some residents of Mangaung Metro as Eskom plans to carry out maintenance at the Welbedacht Dam substation this weekend.

Municipal spokesperson Qondile Khedama said residents of the former Naledi region could be affected by the planned water interruption, including Thaba Nchu and Botshabelo. This follows recent constant water interruptions due to various reasons. 

“Residents are hereby informed that Eskom will undertake maintenance at the Welbedacht Dam substation on Saturday (11/11). This will require an interruption in the electricity supply at Welbedacht Dam – NovoSS, Knelpoort SS. During this operation, there could be water shutdowns and/or restricted water supply to communities,” Khedama said. 

Residents, businesses, and consumers in the affected areas are advised to make the necessary arrangements for gathering water for cooking, washing, cleaning, etc.

“Electricity supply may be restored without warning at any time during the interruption period; therefore, all electrical installations must be treated as live and dangerous,” Khedama added.
